This Privacy Policy explains what information ShiftNote handles and how. It applies to the ShiftNote app on iOS, macOS, and (when available) Android.
When you use ShiftNote, you can enter:
ShiftNote calculates your estimated earnings from this information automatically. All of it is stored locally in a database on your device. We do not receive, see, or store any of it — there is no ShiftNote server.
ShiftNote also saves a few settings directly on your device, such as your default hourly rate and whether you've subscribed to ShiftNote Pro. These are stored using your device's standard local settings storage and never leave your device.
ShiftNote has no user accounts, so we never collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, contacts, photos, location, or any other personal identifying information. There's nothing to log in with and nothing tied to your identity.
Apple requires apps to disclose specific categories of device data they access, even when that access is entirely local and never leaves the device. Here's what ShiftNote uses and why:

None of this data is transmitted anywhere — it's used only to make the app work on your device.
If you have iCloud Backup (iOS/macOS) or a similar Google account backup (Android) turned on at the device level, your ShiftNote data may be included in that backup, the same as any other app on your device. That backup is controlled by you through your Apple ID or Google account settings — GritWerk has no access to it.
ShiftNote lets you export your shift history as a CSV file. When you do, your device's standard share sheet lets you choose where it goes — email, Files, AirDrop, cloud storage, and so on. Once you export and share a file, that transfer is between you and wherever you sent it; GritWerk has no visibility into or control over it.
If you subscribe to ShiftNote Pro, your purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. GritWerk never receives, sees, or stores your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. Apple and Google process that information under their own privacy policies:

Since we never receive your data, there's nothing stored on our end to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — you already have full control.
ShiftNote is intended for hourly workers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because ShiftNote has no accounts and stores everything locally, we have no way to identify a user's age.
Because ShiftNote never transmits or collects your personal data on any server, GritWerk does not act as a data controller or processor under regulations like the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — there's no data on our end for these regulations to apply to. Regardless, we don't sell personal information, and you retain full access, correction, and deletion rights over your data at all times, directly on your device.
Your ShiftNote data is protected by your device's own operating system security. We recommend using a device passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or equivalent to protect your device — and, by extension, your local ShiftNote data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app.
